Stash House Raid Findings

Socorro police raided a suspected stash house on Moon Road near Alameda Avenue. Law enforcement escorted out a man and several women during the operation. Officers discovered more than seven undocumented migrants inside. They also found possible signs of sex trafficking.

School District Arrests

The Socorro Independent School District confirmed teacher Mark Williams was arrested in a prostitution sting. He taught at Socorro High School. This was part of three SISD employee arrests for alleged sex crimes. The district is addressing these cases.

Cult Trafficking Investigation

Separately, the Department of Justice recommended sex trafficking charges against over ten “Socorro cult” members. This group allegedly compelled teenagers into marriage and sex with adults. They claimed this was necessary “to go to heaven”.

School Activities Update

Meanwhile, Socorro High School published athletic schedules. These include girls’ basketball and soccer games for 2023-2025 seasons. Games feature matchups against Hot Springs, Cobre, and other schools.
