Recent Arrests and Police Operations

A Columbus school teacher, Dianna Ferguson (38, of Muscat Rd., Hope Mills), was arrested in Fairfield County. Police charged her with Prostitution and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Law enforcement continues targeting related crimes. Hope Mills Police conducted a Human Trafficking investigation. Separately, 14 people were arrested in a Cumberland County human trafficking sting. Another operation led to 23 men being accused of soliciting children for sex.

Community Response and Local Events

Hope Mills is a growing community. The Police Chief emphasized preparing the department for associated challenges.

Positive community events exist alongside these issues. The Hope Mills Area Chamber prepared for the 2024 Women Mean Business event. A “Girls Night Out” show is scheduled at DirtyWhiskey Craft in February 2025. Hope Ridge United Methodist Church hosts a Women’s BB Beginners group.

Ongoing Concerns and Investigations

Brockton business owners and residents have raised concerns about prostitution impacting their area. Some feel it hits too close to home. A new lawsuit alleges sex trafficking occurred in a Brockton hotel.

Previously found remains were identified as Rebecca Fellows. She had gone missing in Hope Mills on July 9.
