Prostitutes Watertown
A Watertown woman faces a prostitution charge. She allegedly agreed to engage in a sexual act for $80. This arrest is part of a larger investigation into an interstate prostitution ring operating high-end brothels in Cambridge and Watertown. According to charging documents, the defendants ran this network since at least July 2020. Authorities allege the operation catered to an elite clientele, including politicians, though specific names haven’t been released.
Additional Charges and Local Patterns
Three people have been charged so far in connection with this commercial sex ring. In a separate incident, a 52-year-old Watertown man was charged with patronizing a prostitute. City police say he responded to a Craigslist advertisement for massage services. Prostitution charges are relatively infrequent in Watertown, police noted, though a woman was charged just last week. Another Watertown man was indicted on sex trafficking charges for allegedly allowing a 17-year-old girl to work as a prostitute.
Brothel Operations and Ongoing Efforts
The investigation highlights ongoing issues, with neighbors previously complaining about a Riverside Street home allegedly used for prostitution. While sites like Backpage alternatives list escorts in Watertown, promising discretion and verified profiles, law enforcement continues its efforts. Flint, Michigan, has also seen police posting photos of suspected prostitutes and johns online as a tactic. The victims in these rings are often exploited individuals, with the Massachusetts case involving mostly Asian women. A Watertown woman, Kristie Perkins, 44, was charged Monday with prostitution. Police say she agreed to the act for money. Elsewhere, five people were accused of running brothels in Newton and Watertown. The lead defendant in the high-end brothel case recently pleaded guilty and was sentenced. City police confirmed they are aware of the issue and continue to investigate complaints.
